Abstract Axial piston machines are well-known and required in many fields thanks to its capacity and ability to drive fluid with great pressure. However, the finding shows an increasing deterioration of its components, and a rapid loss of performance after being used by many companies, due to the effects of the exaggerated elastic deformation and the fracture of its components such us the slipper and retainer. This work involves research on the causes, reasons, and solutions to this deformation and fracture that leads to the loss of performance of the axial pistons pump. For this, to better conduct this research considering the effect of materials; hydrostatic pressure, stain, and elastic deformation are simulated in four different materials for each slipper and retainer. In every case, the fatigue is checked. The simulation results are in relation to the areas of exaggerated deformation and fracture as an area with intense fatigue. A new pump is tested in the laboratory to observe and control the operation; some suggestions are data to improve the life span of axial piston machines.
