Abstract A green route for synthesis iron oxide (Hematite, α-Fe 2 O 3 ) from ferrous chloride tetrahydrate (FeCl 2 ∙4H 2 0) and Ailanthus excelsa leaves extract, which act as reducing and stabilizing agent. Biosynthesized Fe 2 O 3 NPs were synthesized were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV–vis absorption spectroscopy (UV–vis). The morphology of hematite nanoparticles could be controlled by tuning the ratio of A. excelsa L. extract/prucessor. Fe 2 O 3 NPs are crystalline in nature, spherical shape with average size 40 nm. This study determined the mortality efficacy of synthesized α-Fe 2 O 3 NPs onto green peach Aphid.
