Abstract The abundance of biomass resources for glucose production coupled with feasibilities for its valorization into furans and other value-added fuels and chemicals undoubtedly infer good opportunities for the industry. We have documented herein a comprehensive review on the design of zeolite catalysts for glucose valorization into very important fuels and chemicals including furans and organic acids. Apart from updates on process mechanisms, the role of metals incorporation, zeolites acidity, textural and topological features in deriving enhanced product distribution were discussed based on the recent literature. Roles of reaction parameters in process optimization were critically highlighted. Prospective research areas suitable for further investigations especially in the direction of elevating products yield and zeolite stability properties were substantially discussed.
