Abstract This paper presents the ongoing R&D research activities at IRSN related to the improvement of the properties of dust solid phases. It is illustrated by an ASTEC simulation of a wet-bypass scenario in the ITER facility. Special attention has been paid to the thermodynamic properties of beryllium hydride. The simulation of the selected accidental scenario highlights the potential formation of beryllium hydride dust as well as its tritiated form.
