Abstract In this paper we find the equations of motion for a J -trajectory in the product space R × S 3 . We study the periodicity of J -trajectories whose projection on the 3-sphere is a Legendre curve and we find a periodicity criterion. We obtain also the contact angle for the projection on S 3 of a J -trajectory.
