Abstract A novel nickel-organic polyhedron, formulated as [Me2NH]2 [Ni6(H3L)4]·(H6L)·3DMF·3H2O (FJI-10, H6L = Tris-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)benzene-1,3,5-tricarbohydrazide), has been successfully synthesized and structurally characterized. During the self-assembly process, the guest H6L ligand also acted as the template agent in the single crystal structure. FJI-10 was constructed by octahedral nanocages, which are composed of six Ni(II) ions and four (H3L)3− ligands. In addition, the magnetic property and sorption behavior of FJI-10 were investigated as well.
