Abstract E-voting, public forums, open government, analysis of public opinion and the development of feedback mechanisms are characterized as the foundation of e-democracy which is regarded as the latest stage of e-government development. Although the efforts oriented towards the formation of e-democracy are highly appreciated, this process is at nascent stages in the majority of countries for now. E-voting is regarded as one of the most important components of e-democracy and comprises interesting research topics such as the mechanisms of participation in elections, the maintenance of legitimacy, technological solutions for e-voting and the efficient application of those in e-voting. The paper explores the e-voting system as one of the main tools of e-democracy and analyzes the approaches to weighted voting, as well as its advantages and drawbacks. In the paper are conducted of the substantiation of the weighted voting as the approach influencing a level of trust of citizens and an increase in their role in elections.
