Abstract The paper deals with the problem of resource management in manufacturing scheduling. The authors consider the problem definition of resource management using ill-formalized constraints of non-numerical nature (“semantic domain constraints”). It is suggested to use multi-agent approach to resource management in manufacturing scheduling. The main idea is to represent the process of solving the task of resource management as a sequence of negotiations or communication interactions of agents. The general scheme of decision support system for resource managing in manufacturing scheduling is developed. It is suggested to use an intelligent system which can predict future productivity of the worker on the basis of processing information about his current productivity, the nature of his work and other information related to production activities. This information can be collected as a result of monitoring the activities of workers, machines and equipment.
