In consequence, the presence of LVA predicted the recurrence of AF after PVI also in PAF patients. Therefore, the clinical presentation of AF does not always adequately mirror the progression of the underlying substrate and measures like LAV can help to assess the stage and the progression of atrial cardiomyopathy which can contribute critically to AF recurrence after PVI, irrespective of the clinical AF
