Abstract In this paper, the sub-scaled dovetail joints with the material of DD6-FGH96 are studied by experimental and numerical methods. To monitor the crack growth, the silicon-rubber replica method and telephoto microscope are used for testing at room temperature 25 °C and high temperature 600 °C, respectively. The testing results show significant differences between high and room temperature. Furthermore, the numerical method which can calculate the multiaxial fatigue parameter and its gradient is proposed based on contact analysis of dovetail. The prediction results of the SWT and TCD-SWT parameter show a certain accuracy compared with testing results.
