Abstract A compact and simple pulsed 1087.2 nm c-cut Nd:YVO4 laser with WS2-based saturable absorber (SA) is reported for the first time. A chosen output-coupled mirror with high-transmission coating at 1066 nm and part-reflection coating at 1087 nm to achieve a high gain at 1087.2 nm and suppress the line at 1066 nm. The highest CW and pulse 1087.2 nm powers are 2314 mW and 608 mW, respectively. The shortest pulse width is only 135 ns.
