Abstract We treat numerical simulations to investigate how the tube wall thickness affects the confinement loss, power fraction ratio and bandwidth of terahertz (THz) negative curvature fibers at the frequency of 2.52 THz. The frequency of 2.52 THz is chosen to research since the generation from CH3OH based THz gas laser pumped by CO2 laser demonstrates the huge application prospects. We also calculate the confinement loss of bend fiber and find it is insensitive to the bend radius. The negative curvature fibers can be used as the reaction cell of THz or mid-infrared gas lasers since their superior performance characteristics.
