Abstract In their recently published article, G. Akram et al. investigated (1 + 1) dimensional cubic–quintic complex Ginzburg–Landau equation and constructed its exact solutions via the first integral method. We argue that all of solutions obtained by G. Akram et al. are incorrect and do not satisfy the considered equation. Furthermore, we present correct solutions as well as constraint conditions in this article.
