Abstract In this work, undoped and copper (Cu), aluminum (Al) doped Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) nanocrystalline thin films were coated on the glass substrate by a sol-gel dip coating technique. To improve crystallinity and structural perfection the as-deposited films were annealed at 473 °C for 5 h. The influence of different Cu and Al concentrations (Zn1-x Cux S) (Zn1-x Alx S) (x = 0, 0.02 and 0.04) on structural, morphology, elemental compositions, optical properties and functional group analysis of as-deposited Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) thin films were investigated by using several modern techniques. The XRD analysis revealed, all the as-deposited Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) thin films with cubic structure and surface roughness has been found to decreases with the increase of the Cu, Al concentrations. The optical studies have been found, the as-deposited films band gap value from 3.86 eV and it is shifted to 3.53 eV for increase the doping concentrations. Besides, the undoped and Cu, Al-doped ZnS thin films antimicrobial activity were evaluated against different microorganisms using in vitro disc diffusion method, from this investigation result was confirmed excellent inhibition zone was formed against all the tested microorganisms.
