Abstract The interaction of electromagnetic waves with a perfectly conducting half-screen, which is residing between two media with different electromagnetic properties, is investigated for electric polarization. The diffracted fields, in two regions, are determined by using a relation between diffraction and scattered geometric optics waves. Additional terms are included in the diffracted waves in order to satisfy the boundary conditions in the interface. The behavior of the total field and its components are analyzed numerically.
