Abstract Pb2+ ions doped Ca2La8(SiO4)6O2 phosphors were prepared by a sol-gel process. X-ray diffraction patterns indicated that these doped samples exhibited a hexagonal Ca2La8(SiO4)6O2 structure. From luminescence spectra analysis, the introduction of Pb2+ ions into Ca2La8(SiO4)6O2 resulted in an emission band at 327 nm. Relative intensities of bands varied depending on the concentration of Pb2+ ions.
