Abstract In this paper we model distortion in imaging eye fundus under vitreous hemorrhage. We model what the physician sees in the patient’s eye. We model the fundus and the vitreous humor with erythrocytes as parallel layers of turbid media. We calculate reflections from this structure by Monte Carlo simulation. We differentiate between reflection from the fundus and reflection from erythrocytes. Then and based on reflectance we propose numerical parameters to quantify distortion in fundus image. As volume fraction of erythrocytes in the vitreous humor increases reflection of erythrocytes increases and presents more distortion on the reflected image from the fundus.
