Abstract In this paper, the modified extended direct algebraic has been used to investigate the Lakshmanan–Porsezian–Daniel model. Many solutions such as bright, dark and combo optical soliton solutions are obtained. These solutions may be useful in the explanation of solitons propagation in birefringent fibers.
