Abstract In this paper we have discussed thermoluminescence (TL) of Tm doped nanocrystalline Calcium aluminate (CaAl2O4:Tm3+) phosphors synthesized by combustion method. Formation and composition of the phosphors have been confirmed by XRD and EDXrespectively. γ- ray and e- beam have been used as source of excitation. The optimal concentration of the activator has been determined by varying the concentration of the activator (Tm). The study is confined to two different aspects of TL study of phosphors i.e. the fundamental physics aspect of the material in term of its key trap parameters namely kinetic energy (E), frequency factor (s) and order of kinetics (b) and its potentiality in possible applications. Computerised Glow Curve Deconvolution (CGCD) technique has been followed to evaluate the trap parameters (E, s and b). The second aspect is being the dose response curve of with the radiations.
