Abstract In this study, the effect of bending on proposed PCF based SPR biosensor has been analysed by employing the Full vectorial Finite Element Method (FVFEM) with Perfectly Matched Layers (PMLs). The spectral interrogation method is chosen to calculate the sensitivity and the resolution of the proposed sensor structure. The blood components (water, cytop, blood plasma, white blood cell (WBC)) refractive index variations are used as a sample. Our numerical results have shown that the overall performance of the proposed sensor can be improved up to 63% by bending. Also, the resonance wavelength of the proposed sensor can be tuned by bending.
