Abstract The purpose of this paper is to examine the Goos–Hanchen-effect (GH-effect) for near-zero-index metamaterials taking fractional dual fields as the source of excitation. Fractional dual fields are intermediate states between the s -polarized and p -polarized fields. The behavior of reflection coefficient, corresponding phase, and GH-effect, for epsilon-near-zero (ENZ)/mu-near-zero (MNZ) metamaterial is analyzed. Both lossless and lossy ENZ/MNZ metamaterial are treated in this regard. Impact of variation of fractional parameter on the behavior of reported quantities is noted in detail.
