Abstract Recent years have seen an exponential growth in energy utilization to improve our lifestyle. This growth affects the demand and supply of energy and may lead to it’s scarcity in future. In this direct, Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor plays a crucial role in monitoring and managing energy. This smart sensor monitors the surroundings and react accordingly. The sensitivity of sensor is critical parameter in it’s implementation. Focusing on achieving better sensitivity, this paper tries to put forward a mathematical model to effectively analyze the performance of PIR making it more receptive. The model investigates the different sensor parameters. Then, the simulation results of voltage output of the model are compared considering the parameters. In addition to this, proposed scheme is evaluated keeping in mind, rate of absorption of infrared with distance, detectivity range and rate of absorption of infrared with sector angle to obtain better sensitivity. The enhance sensitivity increases the efficacy of the PIR system.
