Highlights • Patients with small bowel adenocarcinoma tend to present with non-specific symptoms.• The median time between onset of symptoms and diagnosis is 2–8 months.• Disease is often advanced by the time of diagnosis (stage IV 32%).• Tumour markers are not useful in the diagnosis of small bowel adenocarcinomas.
