Highlights • Squamous cell carcinoma of the thyroid gland is an extremely rare tumor.• It may be primary tumor within the thyroid gland or as a component of anaplastic or undifferentiated tumors.• The tumor has a very aggressive clinical behavior with a median survival of few months.
