Highlights • Osteochondromas are considered the most common benign tumors of bony origin.• Exostosis are slow growing masses usually diagnosed before the third decade of life.• A computed tomography scan offers a more accurate tool in the diagnosis of this type of condition.• Rib exostosis occurs more frequently in males than females with a ratio of 1.5:1.• Costal osteochondromas mostly occur as a part of hereditary multiple osteochondromas.
