Abstract Unlike the more common eating disorders that cause obvious changes in appearance, Pica can be overlooked due to the patients' tendency to hide and their nature with attacks. In this article, psychiatric evaluation of a female patient complicated with partial obstruction in the gastrointestinal system and eating 4/5 packs of matches daily for 3-4 years was described. When the cases in the literature were examined, it was seen that the diagnosis of Pica, which was made by consuming non-nutritious foods for more than a month, was considered in terms of its obsession-like nature and response to SSRI treatment in some cases, impulse control defect in some cases, anemia and mineral deficiency in some cases. In this article, associating the patient's matchstick eating behavior with the anemic picture rather than OCD or impulsivity; It is aimed to emphasize the importance of Pica disease once again in terms of being life-threatening with its acute or chronic disruptive effects in the gastro intestinal tract.
