Abstract In this study, electrical resistivity data were employed to study the litho-textural characteristics of aquifer in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, southeastern Nigeria, in order to identify the variation and the interrelationship between the aquifer hydraulic parameters. Thirty vertical electrical sounding (VES) points using Schlumberger electrode configuration were employed across the study area. The results revealed the spatial relationships between the electrical and hydraulic parameters and their relationship. The aquifer resistivity and thickness ranged from 21.5 to 10000 Ωm and 2.4–235.5m, respectively. The hydraulic conductivity varies from 0.0717 to 22.0396m/day. Transmissivity have values ranging from 0.7630 to 1619.328m2/day, while the tranmissivity index ranges from 3.8584 to 7.1853. The reflection coefficient and fracture contrast also gave insight of the nature of the aquifer formation. The sandstone nature of the aquifer was further shown by the effective porosity values which ranged between 27.3652 and 32.7566%. The result obtained from this study has identified the subsurface aquifer and given insight into the groundwater potential as it affects economic growth and social cohesion.
