Abstract A new pleurodiran turtle, corresponding to a bothremydid Taphrosphyini, is described in this paper. This form, Ilatardia cetiotesta gen. et sp. nov., is represented by a large skull, with a length of about 20 cm. It is one of the few Mesozoic representatives of Taphrosphyini known by the skull. This new Maastrichtian taxon comes from the Mount Ilatarda area of the Tahoua Region, in south-western Niger. The detailed comparison of this form with the other Cretaceous and Paleogene representatives of this clade is carried out.
