Abstract Uranium-containing sodium-aluminum-iron-phosphate glass samples was studied by X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Electron binding energies of the basic elements including the U 4f were measured; their XPS structure parameters were determined. Elemental and ionic composition of the surface of the studied samples was analyzed and compared with the corresponding calculated data for the bulk.
