Abstract The phase diagram of the binary system (KNO3+TlNO3) was studied using simultaneous simple and differential thermal analysis (STA/DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) techniques. This phase diagram is characterized by four invariants: a eutectic at 457 K, two eutectoids at 409 K and 382 K and a peritectoid at 352 K. An optimization of this binary system based on the available experimental data is also presented in this work.
