Abstract Asphalt carbon coated graphene/magnetic NiFe2O4 modified multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) composites were synthesized. As EM wave absorbers, the composites were mixed with paraffin, which exhibit significant microwave absorption properties. The maximum reflection loss is −45.9 dB at 4.6 GHz with a thickness of 3.2 mm. In addition, there is a strong wave-absorbing peak at 6.2 GHz, and the corresponding RL is up to −38.9dB. The bandwidth corresponding to the RL values below −10 dB is 14 GHz (from 4GHz to 18GHz) with thickness in the range of 1.2mm–4 mm, highlighting its potential for microwave absorbing applications.
