Abstract We systematically research the structural, magnetic, electric and microwave absorption properties of Li0.25+x/3Zn0.5Fe2.25-xTi2x/3O4 ferrites prepared by sol-gel method. The analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns confirms the formation of cubic Fd-3m phase, and the lattice parameters decrease from 8.3929 to 8.3824 A. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study indicates that the concentration of Fe2+ ions and oxygen vacancies in the samples increases with Li and Ti contents. The saturation magnetization decreases monotonically with the increase of Li and Ti contents. However, the initial permeability increases gradually with x, which is due to the decrease in anisotropy constant K1 obtained by the law of approach to saturation. The range of Curie temperature is from 56 to 301 °C for Ti doped Li–Zn ferrites. The dielectric constant increases with Li and Ti contents, which is ascribed to the increase in the concentration of Fe2+ ions in the samples. The Li–Zn ferrite with the thickness of 5 mm exhibits better absorption properties comparing with the Li–Zn ferrite with different thicknesses, and could be used as a potential microwave absorbing material.
