Abstract Precipitation-hardening high-entropy alloys (HEAs) based on a single face-centered cubic HEAs with a small amount of alloying elements have become a research of interest and technological importance for many structural applications. Here, we report different ordered B2 precipitates in an Al0.3CoCrFeNi HEA obtained by thermo-mechanical processing. Subsequent tensile deformation to 10% and annealing at 700 °C for 40min accomplished the dense nano-sized B2 particles along the grain boundaries and twinning boundaries by which explore ways to improve the strength while maintaining the plasticity at high level for the present HEA. Furthermore, nucleation of the B2 phase was discussed based on the comprehensive microstructure characterization.
