Graphical abstract Endogenous sulfur dioxide is a novel inhibitor of hypoxia-induced mast cell degranulation. Endogenous SO2/AAT pathway exists in MCs. Mast cell-derived SO2 upregulates cAMP level through activation of AC and inhibition of PDE, thereby suppressing degranulation of MCs.
