Abstract In the energy transportation field, the pipeline network is one of the major modes used for transfer of gas, oil, and byproducts that cross several types of regions and generate effects are often continental in nature. Usually, cross-country pipeline construction generates large environmental and social impacts, which subsequently must be studied and mitigated. During the construction phase, one important challenge is implementing clean production boosted by the reduction of pollutant emission, especially into the atmosphere, from the diesel burned by heavy equipment. This brief analysis presents a viable alternative for the construction of pipeline crossings in flooded areas through the launching of an assembled column mounted on electric motors coupled to rollers, instead of using conventional construction methods with heavy equipment pipelayers that emit high levels of pollutants into the air.
