Abstract Nucleic acids in early age of research were only considered as genetic material and were used only to study the genotype pattern, evolution and biomolecular pathways. Now in recent times with the help of nanotechnology nucleic acids are used in various medical and genetic engineering fields of disease treatment, drug delivery, drug modeling and cell imaging. Various modifications are made in DNA carriers by the virtue of nanotechnology for precise delivery of drug. Various applications are developed using DNA nanotechnology such as carbon dots, nanovehicles, hydrogels, nanomachines, fluorescence techniques, cell imaging, cell tagging and therapeutics methods. Disease which were left untreated or were having hazardous side effects by the use of conventional methods are brought in well limit using DNA nanotechnology. Owing to all these advantages DNA nanotechnology has a great future prospective in disease and health management and futuristic research.
