Abstract This study involves the addition of poly(allylamine) (PAA) with chitosan (CS) for facilitated CO2 transport. Detailed characterizations of the membranes including advance microscopic analysis, thermal stability, stiffness, etc. were investigated. The CO2 separation studies from binary gas mixture indicated the superior CO2 permeance and CO2/N2 selectivity of the PAA30 (70 wt% CS + 30 wt% PAA) membrane at 90 °C and feed absolute pressure of 2 bar. Further, CO2 separation performance of PAA30 was gauged under varying conditions. The performance above the Robeson upper bound plot, displayed the potential of the PAA30 membrane for industrial flue gas separation.
