Abstract In this work, multiple color emitting solid-state carbon dots with europium (III) complexes hybrid material has been prepared through in situ synthesis within the confined interlayer of the host clay. The emission color of the resulting hybrid material can be tuned from red to blue through changing the excitation wavelength, where the white emission (CIE-(0.27, 0.28)) can be achieved under 302 nm UV light excitation. Therefore, the as-prepared material possesses a promising prospect in the area of optics, especially in white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs).
