Abstract In this paper, we prove a reciprocal relationship between the Hausdorff h-measure and the density of the thinnest covering of R n by translates of the unit ball. More precisely, we will prove μ h ( C ) = 1 ϑ ( B 1 ( 0 ) ) for each compact set C of positive Lebesgue measure, where ϑ ( B 1 ( 0 ) ) denotes the density of the thinnest covering of R n by translates of the unit ball B 1 ( 0 ) .
