Abstract In this paper, two resin-filled copp-graphite brushes were prepared at the sintering temperature of 450°C and 910°C respectively. The friction and wear mechanism of the brushes during the current-carrying friction process at different ambient temperatures were discussed. The results show that the friction stability decreases with the increase of the ambient temperature, the friction and wear mechanism changes continuously. Compared with 450°C sintered brush, 910°C sintered brush has larger pore size and higher porosity. At high temperature condition, the cumulative oxidative wear is obvious, resulting severe wear of the brushes and commutators. The low-temperature brush has low porosity, high-temperature oxidation resistance. It shows good friction and wear performance under high ambient temperature.
