Abstract The industrial pure Fe-Si-B-P-C metallic glass powders (MGPs) were found to have excellent microwave absorption properties in this paper. The effects of chemical corrosion on the electromagnetic (EM) parameters and absorption properties were investigated in great detail. After chemical corrosion with hydrochloric acid solution, a highly porous structure appeared on the surface of powders, which increased the interfacial polarization and permittivity of the MGPs. The MGPs exhibited good impedance matching and strong microwave absorption properties. When the corrosion time was 10 min at pH 3.0, the minimum reflection loss (RL) value of composites reached -68.9 dB at 8.88 GHz, where the thickness of the composites was only 2.6 mm.
