Abstract This research examined the effect of the presence or absence of phosphate in the chemical composition of Li and Ag co-doped bioactive glass with fixed and optimum amounts of Li and Ag (5 mol.%). The structural characterization confirmed the in vitro bioactivity of synthesized specimens on the 7th and 14th day of soaking in the simulated body fluid (SBF) solution, respectively. The in vitro biological behaviors of synthesized specimens were evaluated by studying the proliferation and differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells plus alkaline phosphatase (ALP) enzymes production. The results of biological assays proved that both specimens were significantly more effective in stimulating cell proliferation and viability than control specimen (*p
