Abstract The presented work deals with the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) control of Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. In previous work a model based control strategy consisting of a linear model predictive control (MPC) and the Local Linear Model Tree (LoLiMoT) algorithm was presented by the authors. The underlying modeling approach is based on a detailed representation of each HVAC system component. However, the dry effect due to residual condensation after a dehumidification period was not taken into account. In literature, this effect is also not considered in sufficient detail to the best knowledge of the authors. In this contribution a model extension including a novel approach regarding the above mentioned dry effect is discussed. The obtained improvements with respect to previous work are demonstrated in simulation as well as on a real world system.
