Abstract Today due to the important environmental effects of the building sector, the utilization of sustainable energy sources should be taken into account by designers. For the optimization of the integrated sustainable energy systems, a new simulation-based optimization technique is used in this paper. A new optimization Algorithm called the Adaptive Sparrow Search Optimization Algorithm is used. It is aimed to minimize two objective functions including the initial load demand and the investment cost. The lowest value of renewable energy integration based on the Montenegrin regulations is assumed as the limitation. Also, the capability of the householders is a constraint. Initial load demand saves 29.2 kWh/ m 2 a and 79,121 € of global cost by the methodology in comparison to a building composition not regarding the sustainable energy sources.
