EVIDENCE-BASED PERIANESTHESIA NURSING integrates the best research evidence with clinical expertise, patient values, and circumstances. Integration of research evidence requires an awareness of the current literature to provide answers to clinical questions. With more than 700 print and electronic nursing journals, maintaining currency in the literature is a challenge. Published literature reviews assist time-poor nurses to keep current in their field. However, there are several types of literature reviews with different purposes, aims, strengths, and weaknesses. An awareness of the literature reviews enables the perianesthesia nurse to promote evidence-based practice.
