Abstract Porphyrins can stabilize unusual oxidation states of a transition metal when form complexes with the one. The stable oxidation states of manganese in such organometallic compounds are +3 and +5. Due to the rich redox properties of the central manganese atom as well as aromatic macrocyclic porphyrin, other molecular and radical forms oxidized or reduced are widely used in practical applications of manganese porphyrins (MnPs) and their phthalocyanine analogs (MnPcs). In this work, we survey the few new ranges of the manganese porphyrin practical chemistry. Examples of the use of manganese porphyrins for chemiluminescence analysis, hydrogen peroxide dismutation catalysis, and photoinduced electron transfer based on their redox reactions located on the central atom or aromatic marocycle are discussed and reviews.
