Abstract In the present work, the anti-Stokes white luminescence characterized by high emission intensity, low color temperature and large value of full width at half maximum (FWHM) observed from Sr2CeO4 phosphor obtained via various methods is reported. The X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD) proved that investigated host lattice was successfully prepared by solvothermal, citric-gel and solid-state techniques and their average grain sizes were calculated to be 13, 75 and 135 nm, respectively. These synthesis methods have been chosen deliberately to obtain clear differences in average grain sizes. The morphology of the samples was studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In order to investigate the spectroscopic features, the anti-Stokes white emission intensity of Sr2CeO4 phosphors in a function of excitation power density and ambient pressure was measured. Significant relative photoconductance of up to six orders of magnitude was observed. In particular, the influence of the synthesis procedure on the optical properties of laser induced white emission (LIWE) generated from Sr2CeO4 was analyzed.
