Abstract This article presents a broad overview of the literature available since 2004 describing the study of patient satisfaction in radiology. The primary aim for this literature review was to analyze and update the literature related to patient satisfaction from a prior systematic review. The secondary aim was to examine how nursing has been studied within radiology with regard to patient satisfaction research. Combinations of search terms related to radiology and patient satisfaction were used to search three electronic databases. Of the studies reviewed, 14 references met inclusion criteria. This review concludes that there are challenges with the present study of patient satisfaction within radiology. Lack of consistent definitions, no conceptual frameworks, and limited studies involving nursing highlight the significant opportunity to continue research in this area.
