Abstract In this paper, we adopted one-step pyrolysis method to synthesize the Co nanoparticle-embedded, Ni and N co-doped carbon composites (Ni/Co/NC) by using ZIF-67 as precursor. And we systematic analyzed the influence of Ni on its physical and chemical properties. All samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS and TEM. The ORR activities were evaluated by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and rotating disk electrode (RDE) technology. The results show that Ni element has been successfully dispersed in Co/NC. The ORR onset potential of Co/NC is 0.847 V. When Co/NC was doped with 25%, 50% and 75% Ni, its ORR onset potential is 0.854, 0.876 and 0.865 V, respectively. 0.50Ni/Co/NC has dodecahedral morphology and hollow structure. The Tafel slope value of Co/NC, 0.25Ni/Co/NC, 0.50Ni/Co/NC and 0.75Ni/Co/NC is 0.97, 0.91, 82 and 0.89 mV/de, respectively. 0.50Ni/Co/NC exhibits the most efficient properties for ORR.
