Abstract Two Pb(II) coordination complexes based on 5-halonicotinic acids (HL–X, X = Cl or Br) have been successfully synthesized under the solvothermal synthesis. Pb(NO3)2and HL–Cl can construct a two-dimensional (2D) structure of [Pb(L–Cl)2]n (namely complex 1). The –Cl substituent is replaced by –Br on the HL–X linker, which can assemble with Pb(II) cations to construct a one-dimensional (1D) framework of [Pb(L-Br)2]n (namely complex 2). The different structures can be successfully regulated and adjusted by different organic linkers with different halogen-substituents. In addition, complex 1 was investigated in detail as a potential luminescent sensor for Cr2O72−, Fe3+, and TNP.
